There’s No Place Like Home

Agent returns home, and the team steps up

A story worth sharing

Life begins at the end of your comfort zone.

~Neale Donald Walsh

Most of us are confused about the word “comfort.” Success in sales actually requires our discomfort.  We tell both team members and agents that your comfort zone isn’t your friend.

Relationships, on the other hand, require comfort.  I tend to build relationships with both agents and team members.

In 2023, I went outside my comfort zone and did something I never did before.  I contacted four agents to offer a path back “home.”   3 took me up on the offer and made the trip.

Meet Agent Tish Oleksy.

We met when I became an FSA (Field Sales Associate) in her territory.

After I left the farm, Tish became my very first customer when I started my coaching business.

She is a free spirit and eventually went off to try other coaching programs, but I felt she belonged here.

There’s nothing wrong with inviting people back.  In fact, it’s necessary in sales; we do it all the time.  However, it’s something I typically don’t do when it comes to coaching.   I’m a NEXT! person.   But this is different. The first person matters to me.

So, we reached out in late summer with the invitation, and Tish and her team packed their bags and came home in August to join our Gold team coaching series.  The rest is history.

Why did you come back?

“I’m always trying to get traction, and I believe in the fundamentals you teach.

Almost all of our big sales have come from your process.

I don’t feel you teach how to sell so much as how to connect the dots for someone selling our products.

~Tish Oleksy

Apparently, her team liked coming home, too; they went to work!

In the middle of moving their office to another location, the team members stepped up.

  • One wrote about the same amount of apps from the previous year, but nearly doubled their premium

  • One had a blowout year with premium eclipsing the agency with the largest case in their history

  • The Office manager, while spinning multiple plates of her own, was no slouch when it came to closing nice-sized cases as well.

It was a team effort, and it paid off.

Tish did this while also onboarding new team members.

The work isn’t over; we’re still building traction –
but they pulled off a great 2023!

Glad you’re back, Tish!

Home isn’t where you’re from;
it’s where you belong!
