A good coach can change a game,
a great coach can change a life
~ John Wooden
(Legendary Basketball coach)
If you want to be great at sales or a top producer in any field, there’s one thing you absolutely must be: coachable. That means you’re open to learning, willing to listen, and ready to grow—even when it’s uncomfortable.
The truth is, the best in any business never stop learning. They ask questions. They seek feedback. They stay hungry.
Being coachable doesn’t mean you’re not already good. It means you’re serious about getting even better.

Meet Jessica
She’s an Office Manager, but she’s also an Introvert.
Before we go any further, let me be clear:
This blog post has nothing to do with how great I am as a coach – because I’m not great.
This is about people like Jessica. Individuals who want to get better and are willing to do the hard, honest work to coach themselves forward — regardless of their personality or comfort zone.
She was already a top producer when her State Farm Agent, LaKitsia Gaines, lost her mind and signed up for team coaching with a 3rd grader. What I love about Jessica is her willingness to lean in, learn, and execute!
Even when we have a good process in place, our minds will convince us to take shortcuts. None of us is immune to self-sabotage.
Jessica decided June was going to be an ALL-IN month and surrendered to the process. She ignored her brain, mind, and feelings to force herself into following our process. Look what happened in two weeks! I’m very proud of her.

Jessica wasn’t alone in kicking off June
by burning up the first two weeks!
Here are just the Top 3
Freda is one of my buddies and has been around for over 30 years,
And she’s STILL open to learning to move forward.

What’s great about this Top 3 list
Both Jessica and Nicole are from the same agency!
Their agent didn’t fall into the
“we don’t have time!” trap.
Instead, they take the time to double down on the training,
and it’s paying dividends.
Nicole is a chatterbox, while Jessica is an introvert.
With our process, your personality doesn’t matter.

“It’s what you learn after you know it all, that counts!”
~John Wooden
What Being Coachable Looks Like
Here are a few signs that someone is coachable:
- They ask questions like, “How can I improve?”
- They take notes during training.
- They try new things instead of always doing it “their way.”
- They don’t take feedback personally.
- They say “thank you” when someone corrects them.
On the other hand, someone who isn’t coachable often says things like:
- “I’ve been doing this for years—I already know.”
- “That won’t work for me.”
- “I don’t need help.”
Even the best of us need help.
Name your favorite athlete or top producer and you’ll find they ALL had coaches. Their ability to listen, learn, and DO is why they won!
